Theuvoram NGo is the flagbearers of humanitarian activities in Kerala. They have been striving to facilitate a safe haven to several thousands of homeless and elderly on the streets for the past two decades. The volunteers make sure people are fed, kept hygiene and given shelter to rest. They facilitate all that one needs to go ahead with their lives healthily and happily. Essentially, the means for Theruvoram to function come from kindhearted donors and wellwishers.
Finding Resources from Nothing
The sphere of Theruvoram’s active participation was not restricted to rescuing and rehabilitation. When there is lesser funding to proceed, the volunteers over the years found resources from things that others considered as waste matter. They would gather the remnant coconut shells from a local tender coconut water vendor which is turned into much needed fuel resource for the organization. Apart from this, our workers collect sugar cane leftovers from juice stalls and wood pieces from furniture shops. These are effectively used as fuel for kitchen where food is constantly prepped for inmates. These clever ideas helped Theruvoram to run efficiently when time were adverse financial wise.
According to Murugan S, the organization is attempting on gaining maximum input from recycling materials that are discarded by sellers. When mere scraps are transformed into valuable fuel, a considerable amount can be saved from household expenditure. To Murugan this entire process is a model that deserves to be followed by many as it reduces pollution and waste and gains fuel energy that can be stored and used. This way people can contribute toward the betterment of our environment.
